Wes Anderson Movie Retrospective
Certainly a unique voice in the realm of successful contemporary filmmakers, Wes Anderson offers whimsical and entertaining movies that resonate with those that enjoy the lighthearted approach to storytelling. The Gables Cinema has gathered a selection of five of the director’s best works in the coming days (Moonrise Kingdom, Grand Budapest Hotel, Rushmore, Fantastic Mr. Fox and The Royal Tennenbaums) for a retrospective journey in advance of the release of the new highly-anticipated film: Isle of Dogs. National Theatre Live: Cat on a Hot Tin Roof
On a steamy night in Mississippi, a Southern family gathers at their cotton plantation to celebrate Big Daddy’s birthday. The scorching heat is almost as oppressive as the lies they tell. Brick and Maggie dance around the secrets and sexual tensions that threaten to destroy their marriage. The live play is presented at Gables Art Cinema at noon on the weekend. This is Grumpy’s first location outside of New York City at 2516 Ponce, featuring espresso-based drinks, seasonal brewed coffee selections, organic teas and exclusive offerings like matcha and turmeric sodas.
