First Friday Gallery Night – Giralda Under The Stars
Gather with family and friends each first Friday of the Month for a delightful evening in Coral Gables. Enjoy the art gallery receptions and stop by Restaurant Row — Giralda Plaza — for the monthly Giralda Under The Stars al fresco dining experience.
Saturday – Bernstein at 100: Trouble in Tahiti – Arias & Barcarolles
Orchestra Miami and Magic City Opera join forces to perform two exciting masterpieces in a Centennial Celebration for legendary composer Leonard Bernstein, starting at 8pm at Pinecrest Gardens. Trouble in Tahiti, an opera in one act, is a candid portrait of the troubled marriage of a young suburban couple. Arias & Barcarolles, Bernstein’s last major piece, is a very personal song cycle composed for mezzo-soprano and baritone and addresses matters relating to family. https://www.orchestramiami.org/bernstein
Monday – Osher Lifelong Learning Institute Open House
Join a community with a passion for learning. OLLI at UM provides a relaxed learning environment for adults aged 50 or better who believe that life should be filled with intellectual growth and exploration. Meet the members and instructors. The open house event begins on January 7th at 10:30am at UM Founder’s Hall, 1550 Brescia Avenue. Thursday – Music and Memories of Leonard Bernstein
Jamie Bernstein — author of Famous Father Girl: A Memoir of Growing up Bernstein — will offer a rare look at her father and their family, following the 100th anniversary (1918-2018) of Leonard Bernstein’s birth. Plan Ahead: Beaux Arts Festival Next Weekend
The 68th annual Beaux Arts Festival of Art will take place on January 12 and 13 on the grounds of the University of Miami in Coral Gables with original artwork from approximately 230 juried exhibitors. https://beauxartsmiami.org/festival-of-art/
