Greetings,
Happy Valentines Day to all you lovers. This weekend brings a delightful array of wonderful events to ponder when making plans with family and friends.
Robert and Robin Burr
Goodbye Tarpon Bend
It was a sad occasion to hear that Tarpon Bend on Miracle Mile was closing its doors in the past week. This iconic seafood restaurant with a fantastic bar, open to the street, was a premiere place to meet up with friends for drinks and food. Wayne Eldred set the standard for high quality, consistency and warm hospitality during his 15 year reign on the Mile. Kudos dear friend. We look forward to your next chapter.
Amigo Grill Open On Miracle Mile
A family-owned, casual steak house with prime and choice steaks, Amigo Grill & Company recently opened at 98 Miracle Mile, featuring grilled dishes and sandwiches for lunch and dinner, with take-out service. They’re open from 11:30am to 9:30pm. Call 305-456-8125. https://www.amigogrillandco.com/
Innovation Studio at Fairchild
In anticipation of Fairchild’s Growing Beyond Earth Innovation Studio opening Summer 2019, Fairchild and Moonlighter Makerspace are offering different classes in design thinking, 3D printing and basic circuitry so the community can design, create and experiment using the latest technology to solve issues related to food production. Adults and children age 7+ may sign up for classes being offered on Sundays from now until the end of April at Fairchild. The facility, a so-called makerspace, will be the first public facility dedicated to NASA’s food production challenges and the first project to leverage community input in the development of plant-growing hardware. Saturday – National Theatre Live: Allelujah!
Filmed live at London’s Bridge Theatre during its limited run, Allelujah! is a play not to be missed. The Beth, an old-fashioned cradle-to-grave hospital serving a town in Yorkshire, is threatened with closure as part of an efficiency drive. A documentary crew, eager to capture its fight for survival, follows the daily struggle to find beds on the Dusty Springfield Geriatric Ward, and the triumphs of the old people’s choir. https://gablesguide.com/event/national-theatre-live-allelujah/2019-02-16/
