Final Account at Gables Cinema

Final Account at Gables Cinema

An urgent portrait, Final Account addresses the last living generation of everyday people to participate in Adolf Hitler’s Third Reich. Over a decade in the making, the film raises vital, timely questions about authority, conformity, complicity and perpetration, national identity, and responsibility, as men and women ranging from former SS members to civilians in never-before-seen interviews reckon with -- in very different ways -- their memories, perceptions and personal appraisals of their own roles in the greatest human crimes in history. https://www.gablescinema.com/events/final-account/

Little Shop of Horrors: Director's Cut

Saturday, May 29 at 9pm

Little Shop of Horrors: Director's Cut

Based on the off-Broadway musical by composer Alan Menken and writer Howard Ashman, Little Shop of Horrors is the story of Seymour (Rick Moranis), a nerdy florist on Skid Row who dreams of a life with his gorgeous co-worker Audrey (Ellen Greene). One day, following a solar eclipse, Seymour discovers a "mean green mother" of a monster plant with an appetite for human blood... and sets its sights on Audrey. Dark, funny, and filled with the numerous earworms, Little Shop of Horrors is a bona fide cult classic. This screening features the Director's Cut of the cult horror musical, which restores the original ending shot by director Frank Oz that followed the beats of the original off-Broadway ending. Coral Gables Art Cinema is located at 260 Aragon. Call 786-385-9689 or visit the web site for details. https://www.gablescinema.com/events/little-shop-of-horrors/

Federico Fellini's I Vitelloni

Sunday and Monday at 2:30pm

Fellini's I Vitelloni

Five young men linger in a post-adolescent limbo, dreaming of adventure and escape from their small seacoast town. They while away their time spending the lira doled out by their indulgent families on drink, women, and nights at the local pool hall. Federico Fellini’s second solo directorial effort (originally released in the U.S. as The Young and the Passionate) is a semiautobiographical masterpiece of sharply drawn character sketches: Skirt chaser Fausto, forced to marry a girl he has impregnated; Alberto, the perpetual child; Leopoldo, a writer thirsting for fame; and Moraldo, the only member of the group troubled by a moral conscience. An international success and recipient of an Academy Award nomination for Best Original Screenplay, I Vitelloni compassionately details a year in the life of a group of small-town layabouts struggling to find meaning in their lives. Coral Gables Art Cinema is located at 260 Aragon. Call 786-385-9689 or visit the web site for details. https://www.gablescinema.com/events/i-vitelloni/
