Sunday, June 20 is Fathers' Day, an occasion to mark and celebrate the contribution that your own father has made to your life.
Sunday, June 20 also marks the Summer Solstice, when the sun's zenith is at its furthest point from the equator and the the sun is directly over the Tropic of Cancer in the Northern Hemisphere.
Sunday, July 4th is American Independence Day, a traditional time of celebration with family gatherings, picnics and fireworks exhibits. The city of Coral Gables will not host the usual massive gathering at the Biltmore Hotel property this year.
As always, make plans to enjoy the great outdoors in our little city. Walk down Miracle Mile, experience the live theatre and the best movies, look into the art galleries and meet up with friends at the restaurants. Visit the parks and public spaces to appreciate the bounties of nature.
Enjoy the best of Coral Gables in the coming days.

Rita Moreno: Just a Girl Who Decided to Go for It
Over a 70+ year career, Rita Moreno defied both her humble upbringing and relentless racism to become a celebrated and beloved actor, one of the rare EGOT (Emmy, Grammy, Oscar, Tony) Award Winners of our time. Born into poverty on a Puerto Rican farm, Moreno and her seamstress mother immigrated to New York City when Moreno was five years old. After studying dance and performing on Broadway, Moreno was cast as any ethnic minority the Hollywood studios needed filled, be it Polynesian, Native American or Egyptian. The film illuminates the humor and the grace of Moreno, as well as lesser-known struggles she faced on her path to stardom. Moreno’s talent and resilience triumphed over adversity, as she broke barriers, fought for representation, and forged the path for new generations of artists. https://www.gablescinema.com/events/rita-moreno-just-a-girl-who-decided-to-go-for-it/
