Great Gables Events Calendar Newsletter

Greetings ,

Constitution Day and Citizenship Day, Friday, Sep 17, is an event which falls during Constitution Week. Many people in the United States recognize the anniversary of the nation’s constitution and the efforts and responsibilities of all citizens.

Friday, September 17 is also POW/MIA Recognition Day. Many Americans across the United States will pause to remember the sacrifices and service of those who were prisoners of war.

The September Equinox falls on Wednesday, September 22. During this time of the year, the sun slowly moves southward until it crosses the celestial equator -- an imaginary line in the sky above Earth’s equator -- from north to south. Around this time of year, the amount of daylight and nighttime are equal.

Sunday, September 26 is Gold Star Mother's Day, a time to display the nation's flag and hold appropriate meetings to publicly express their love, sorrow, and reverence towards Gold Star Mothers and their families.

As always, make plans to enjoy the great outdoors in our little city. Walk down Miracle Mile, experience the live theatre and the best movies, browse the book stores, look into the art galleries and meet up with friends at the restaurants. Visit the parks and public spaces to appreciate the bounties of nature.

Enjoy the best of Coral Gables in the coming days.

Evil Dead 2 - Dead Before Dawn

Saturday, September 18 at 9pm

Evil Dead 2 - Dead Before Dawn

Director Sam Raimi’s high-energy 1987 horror flick Evil Dead 2 looks stunning in this 4K restoration. Ash Williams (Bruce Campbell) only wanted romantic vibes when he took his girlfriend Linda (Denise Bixler) to a secluded cabin in the woods. But the vibes turn downright evil after Ash accidentally reads from the Book of the Dead and summons spirits that possesses Linda and relentlessly pursue him. Equal parts remake and sequel, Evil Dead 2 is a prime example of how to mix genuine laughs with shocking gore. https://www.gablescinema.com/events/evil-dead-2/

Extraordinary -- with immense skill, Wang parses how her family's illegal status blighted nearly every aspect of their life, from pushing her parents' marriage to the brink to compromising their health. While Wang's story of pursuing the American dream is undoubtedly timeless, it's her family's triumph in the face of xenophobia and intolerance that makes it feel especially relevant today.
