The annual Kentucky Derby comes around on Saturday, May 1.

Wednesday, May 5 is Cinco de Mayo, a day to celebrate the culture, achievements and experiences of Mexican culture in the USA. May 5 is also the National Day of Prayer and National Nurses Day.

Sunday, May 9 will be Mothers Day.

Make plans to enjoy the great outdoors in our little city. Walk down Miracle Mile, visit the parks. Stay safe, and enjoy the best of Coral Gables in the coming days.

Friday marks one year since Joe Adler's death. In his two decades at GableStage, Joe built a legacy of daring excellence and made this theater a model for bold and exciting works. Bari Newport, the new producing artistic director of GableStage, looks forward to not only continuing that legacy, but building on it. GableStage Theatre is inviting the public to celebrate Earth Day on Thursday, April 22 from 8am to 11am at 1200 Anastasia Avenue. Newly announced Producing Artistic Director Bari Newport, staff and volunteers will be distributing free succulent plants. For those that prefer, plants will be delivered directly to your vehicle. The city is making a drop-off for hazardous waste available at the parking lot behind City Hall, 405 Biltmore Way, from 9am to noon on Saturday. Old electronics, large cardboard boxes, household hazardous waste and shredded documents are welcome. Miami Collegium Musicum performs Schubert and Beethoven with Alhambra Orchestra, plus lyrical instrumental works in this free concert of superbly lyrical pieces for voices and various instruments. Members of the Alhambra Orchestra, conducted by Daniel Andai, have joined with Miami Collegium Musicum to perform Schubert’s famous Mass in G and a rarely heard choral gem by Beethoven entitled Eligischer Gesang.
