Greetings {name},
This Wednesday, July 14th is Bastille Day, July 14, the date of the storming of the Bastille in 1789, celebrated as a national holiday in France. Coral Gables has celebrated the occasion with a race that tests the speed at which a waiter can carry a loaded tray without tipping any of its contents.
Sunday, July 25 will be Parents' Day, offering recognition for the role they play in their children’s lives.
As always, make plans to enjoy the great outdoors in our little city. Walk down Miracle Mile, experience the live theatre and the best movies, browse the book stores, look into the art galleries and meet up with friends at the restaurants. Visit the parks and public spaces to appreciate the bounties of nature.
Enjoy the best of Coral Gables in the coming days.

Michael Pollan - This Is Your Mind On Plants
In This Is Your Mind on Plants, Michael Pollan dives deep into three plant drugs -- opium, caffeine, and mescaline -- and throws the fundamental strangeness, and arbitrariness, of our thinking about them into sharp relief. Exploring and participating in the cultures that have grown up around these drugs while consuming (or, in the case of caffeine, trying not to consume) them, Pollan reckons with the powerful human attraction to psychoactive plants. Why do we go to such great lengths to seek these shifts in consciousness, and then why do we fence that universal desire with laws and customs and fraught feelings? https://booksandbooks.com/event/an-evening-with-michael-pollan-this-is-your-mind-on-plants/ |

He recruits his gang, but first, to gain access to the tunnel, the children must enroll at the Sun School, a charitable institution that tries to educate street kids and child laborers, close to where the treasure is located. Kids: Ernest & Celestine
Deep below snowy, cobblestone streets, tucked away in networks of winding subterranean tunnels, lives a civilization of hardworking mice, terrified of the bears who live above ground. But it isn’t long before their friendship is put on trial by their respective bear-fearing and mice-eating communities.
