Greetings {name},

Sunday, September 11 is Patriot Day, with a moment of silence at 8:46am commemorating the attack on the World Trade Center and the Pentagon. Patriot Day should not be confused with Patriot’s Day which commemorates the battles of Lexington and Concord in 1775.

The First Sunday of September following Labor Day (September 11) is also known as National Grandparents Day, signed into law by President Jimmy Carter in 1978, honoring all grandparents. More than four million greeting cards are sent within the United States each year on National Grandparents Day.

The Third Friday of September (September 16) is National POW/MIA Recognition Day, a time to remember the sacrifices and service of those who were prisoners of war (POW), as well as those who are missing in action (MIA), and their families.

Thursday, September 22 is the September Equinox, the moment the Sun crosses the celestial equator—an imaginary line in the sky above Earth’s equator—from north to south.

Monday, September 26 is Rosh Hashanah, the start of the Jewish New Year. It's also Navratri, one of the most revered Hindu festivals observed in the honour of goddess Mahadevi.

As always, make plans to enjoy the great outdoors in our little city. Walk down Miracle Mile, experience the live theatre and the best movies, browse the book stores, look into the art galleries and meet up with friends at the restaurants. Visit the parks and public spaces to appreciate the bounties of nature.

Enjoy the best of Coral Gables in the coming days.
