Sweeney Todd - Area Stage

Now Playing

Sweeney Todd

The Demon Barber Of Fleet Street is back at Area Stage, and Halloween in Miami has never been scarier -- or this scrumptious. Sweeney Todd became a worldwide success after winning eight Tonys (including Best Musical) during its Broadway run. Sweeney Todd tells the infamous, ghastly tale of an unjustly exiled barber who returns to nineteenth-century London seeking vengeance against the lecherous judge who framed him and ravaged his young wife. The road to revenge leads Todd to Mrs. Lovett, a resourceful proprietress of a failing pie shop, above which, he opens a new barber practice. Mrs. Lovett's luck sharply shifts when Todd's thirst for blood provides a new, mysterious ingredient for her meat pies that has the people of London craving -- and the carnage has only just begun! This tasty, theatrical treat has shocked, awed and thrilled audiences everywhere. Area Stage Company & Conservatory is located at 5701 Sunset Drive, #286. The play is performed Fridays at 7:30pm, Saturdays at 2pm and 7:30pm, Sundays at 2pm -- through Sunday, November 6. Call 305-666-2078. https://www.areastage.org/sweeney
