Great Gables Lifestyle in The City Beautiful
living the good life View online

Greetings {name},

Saturday, June 10 is the running of the Belmont Stakes horse race in Elmont, New York.

Monday, June 12 is Loving Day, the anniversary of a historic court decision eliminating state laws restricting interracial marriage.

Wednesday, June 14 is Flag Day, honoring the United States flag, and  commemorating the flag’s adoption on June 14, 1777. Each of the 50 stars represents one of the 50 states in the United States and the 13 stripes represent the original 13 colonies that became the first states in the Union.

Sunday, June 18 is Fathers Day, celebrating the contribution that fathers and father figures make for their children's lives.

Monday, June 19 is Juneteenth Day -- in the year 1865, Union soldiers arrived to take control of Texas and enforce the emancipation of slaves in the state. The traditional drink on Juneteenth is Big Red soda.

Tuesday, June 20 is American Eagle Day, commemorating the day in 1782, when the bird was added to the official Seal of the United States.

Wednesday, June 21 is the day of the Summer Soltice, the moment the Sun is directly above the Tropic of Cancer in the Northern Hemisphere.

As always, make plans to enjoy the great outdoors in our little city. Walk down Miracle Mile, experience the live theatre and the best movies, browse the book stores, look into the art galleries and meet up with friends at the restaurants -- including restaurant row in the 100 block of Giralda. Visit the parks and public spaces to appreciate the bounties of nature.

Enjoy the best of Coral Gables in the coming days.

Native Gardens at GableStage

Native Gardens at GableStage

In this sparkling comedy of good intentions and bad manners at GableStage, cultures and gardens clash, turning well-intentioned neighbors into feuding enemies. Pablo, a rising attorney, and doctoral candidate Tania, his very pregnant wife, have just

purchased a home next to Frank and Virginia, a well-established D.C. couple with a prize-worthy English garden. But an impending barbeque for Pablo’s colleagues and a delicate disagreement over a long-standing fence line soon spirals into an all-out border dispute, exposing both couples’ notions of race, taste, class and privilege.
