Saturday, April 13 is Thomas Jefferson's Birthday. He was the nation's first secretary of state, second vice-president, and third president.

Monday, April 15 is Titanic Remembrance Day, dedicated to the memory of the loss of the luxury liner Titanic, and over 1500 people who died when she sank on this day in 1912.

Tuesday, April 16 is National Eggs Benedict Day, which requires no further explanation.

Friday, April 19 is National Garlic Day, promoting the many uses of garlic; a horrible day to be a vampire.

Saturday, April 20, the third Saturday in April, is Husband Appreciation Day.

Monday, April 22 is Earth Day, established on April 22, 1970, in support of the environment and in protest of harmful environmental practices.

As always, make plans to enjoy the great outdoors in our little city. Walk down Miracle Mile, experience the live theatre and the best movies, browse the book stores, look into the art galleries and meet up with friends at the restaurants -- including restaurant row in the 100 block of Giralda. Visit the parks and public spaces to appreciate the bounties of nature.

Enjoy the best of Coral Gables in the coming days.
